Dermaplaning in Oswego, IL
Instant smooth skin. Removes peach fuzz and dead skin cells. Makeup goes on flawlessly. A great add-on or standalone treatment.
Dermaplaning is one of those treatments that produces immediately visible results — clients walk out of our office with skin that feels and looks dramatically smoother. The treatment uses a sterile surgical blade to gently scrape away dead skin cells and the fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) that traps oil and product. The result: smoother texture, brighter tone, and noticeably more even makeup application. It's quick, painless, no downtime — and one of our most-loved standalone or add-on treatments.

What is Dermaplaning? How it works
Dermaplaning uses a sterile single-use surgical blade held at a precise angle to gently exfoliate the top layer of dead skin cells AND remove the fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) on the face. Despite what some people fear, dermaplaning does NOT cause hair to grow back darker or thicker — the vellus hair grows back exactly the same. What changes is your skin: smoother, brighter, more product-receptive, and makeup goes on like silk. The treatment takes 30 minutes, has no recovery period, and produces results you can feel immediately.
Pricing & packages
Dermaplaning starts from $89 as a standalone treatment. Often added to a facial for $40–$60. Monthly dermaplaning is part of many of our clients' regular skincare routines.
What to expect at your appointment
- Cleanse — your skin is double cleansed and prepped.
- Dermaplaning — your esthetician holds your skin taut and gently scrapes the surface with a sterile blade. Takes about 20–25 minutes for full face.
- Treatment — many clients add a hydrating mask, serum infusion, or chemical peel layered on top, since dermaplaning increases product absorption.
- Finishing — moisturizer and sunscreen. You can apply makeup immediately if you'd like, though many clients choose to skip makeup for the rest of the day to enjoy the bare skin.
- Maintenance — monthly is ideal; some clients do quarterly. Hair grows back at the same texture and color it was before — never darker or thicker.
Frequently asked questions
- Does dermaplaning hurt?
- Not at all. It feels like a soft, slow scratch. No needles, no chemicals, no heat. Most clients find it relaxing.
- Will my hair grow back darker?
- No. This is the most common misconception. Vellus hair (the fine peach fuzz on your face) grows back exactly the same texture and color. It does NOT grow back as darker terminal hair. Trust the biology, not the rumor.
- How is dermaplaning different from shaving?
- Dermaplaning uses a different blade angle and technique that exfoliates dead skin while removing hair. Shaving with a regular razor doesn't exfoliate the same way. Both are safe; dermaplaning is a more thorough exfoliation.
- How often should I get dermaplaning?
- Monthly is ideal — that matches your skin's natural cell turnover. Some clients prefer every 6–8 weeks.
- Can I do this at home?
- There are at-home dermaplaning tools, but they don't use the same surgical-grade blades and the technique is different. At-home is fine for light hair removal and basic exfoliation; in-office dermaplaning produces dramatically better results.
