GLP-1 Medical Weight Loss in Oswego, IL
Real medical weight loss, NP-supervised, with monthly check-ins and honest support — not a vending machine for medication.
Medical weight loss with GLP-1 medications (semaglutide and tirzepatide) is one of the most powerful tools in modern medicine. For clients who qualify, these medications can produce sustained, significant weight loss when combined with proper medical oversight. But they're medications — not magic — and they should be prescribed and monitored by a qualified medical provider, not bought from sketchy online compounders. At Hello Gorgeous, every weight loss program is overseen by Ryan Kent, FNP-BC, with proper medical intake, monthly check-ins, and pharmacy-sourced medication. We do this the right way.

What is GLP-1 Weight Loss? How it works
GLP-1 medications (glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists) mimic a hormone your body produces naturally after eating. They slow gastric emptying (so you feel full longer), reduce appetite signals from the brain, and stabilize blood sugar. For most clients, this translates to eating less without feeling deprived, fewer food cravings, and gradual sustained weight loss over the course of months. Semaglutide is the older, more-studied option. Tirzepatide is a newer dual-action medication (GLP-1 + GIP receptor agonist) that produces somewhat stronger results in clinical trials for many patients. Both are administered as weekly subcutaneous injections (similar to insulin pens) — you self-inject at home after we teach you how. They are FDA-approved (under brand names Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Zepbound) and have a strong safety record when used under medical supervision.
Pricing & packages
Medical weight loss programs start from $299/month for semaglutide and $399/month for tirzepatide, all-inclusive of medication, monthly NP check-in, and ongoing support. Initial intake visit and labs (if indicated) are quoted separately at your consultation. We give you full pricing transparency before any commitment.
What to expect at your appointment
- Free consultation — we discuss your weight history, your goals, your medical conditions and medications, and whether GLP-1 therapy is appropriate for you. We're honest if it isn't.
- Medical intake — if you decide to proceed, we do a comprehensive medical intake. Labs may be ordered to establish baseline and rule out conditions that would change our approach.
- Prescription and education — Ryan prescribes your medication (semaglutide or tirzepatide), and we teach you exactly how to self-inject, store your medication, and recognize side effects to flag.
- Monthly check-ins — every 4 weeks you come in (or telehealth if appropriate) for a weight check, side-effect review, dose adjustment, and questions. This is the part most weight loss programs skip. We don't.
- Ongoing — you stay on the program as long as it's serving you. Many clients use GLP-1 for 6–12 months to reach their goal, then transition to maintenance dosing or off the medication entirely. We design the long-term plan with you.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does medical weight loss cost in Oswego?
- Semaglutide programs start from $299/month all-inclusive (medication, monthly check-in, support). Tirzepatide programs start from $399/month. Initial consultation is free; intake visit and any labs are quoted separately. Most clients budget $300–$500 monthly depending on medication and dose.
- What's the difference between semaglutide and tirzepatide?
- Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist — the older, more-studied option (brand names Wegovy, Ozempic). Tirzepatide is a newer dual-action medication targeting both GLP-1 and GIP receptors (brand names Mounjaro, Zepbound). Clinical trials suggest tirzepatide produces somewhat greater weight loss on average, but individual response varies. We help you choose based on your medical history, goals, and budget.
- Will I have to take the medication forever?
- Not necessarily, but it's an important conversation. Many clients use GLP-1 medications for 6–12 months to reach their target weight, then transition to maintenance dosing (lower frequency or dose) or come off entirely. Some clients stay on long-term. There's also a real risk of weight regain after stopping if eating patterns and behaviors haven't changed. We talk about this at intake and design a long-term plan together.
- What are the side effects?
- Most common: nausea, mild GI upset, constipation or diarrhea, fatigue, especially in the first few weeks as your body adjusts. Less common: more significant GI symptoms, fatigue, or food aversion. Rare but serious: pancreatitis, gallbladder issues, severe vomiting. We dose conservatively to start, ramp up slowly, and adjust based on how you tolerate it. Monthly check-ins exist precisely so we can catch issues early.
- Do I qualify for GLP-1 therapy?
- Generally: clients with a BMI of 27+ (with at least one weight-related condition like prediabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea) or BMI of 30+ are good candidates. We evaluate each case individually — your medical history, current medications, and goals all factor in. The free consultation is where we determine fit.
- Where does your medication come from?
- Exclusively from licensed US compounding pharmacies. We do not source from international or gray-market suppliers, ever. Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are legal when prescribed by a licensed provider and sourced from FDA-regulated 503A or 503B compounding pharmacies, which is what we use.
- Can I get GLP-1 without seeing a doctor?
- You shouldn't. These are real medications with real side effects and real medical considerations. Buying from online sources without medical supervision is risky — both clinically (no one is monitoring you) and legally (counterfeit or contaminated product is a documented problem). At Hello Gorgeous, every prescription comes with medical oversight, monthly check-ins, and pharmacy-sourced medication. That's the standard of care.
- What happens if it doesn't work for me?
- Some clients respond less to GLP-1 medications — about 10–15% of patients are 'non-responders.' If at 3 months on a therapeutic dose you're not seeing meaningful progress, we'll evaluate whether to switch medications, adjust the approach, or stop the program. We don't keep clients on medications that aren't working for them.
- Is weight loss the only benefit?
- No. GLP-1 medications have demonstrated benefits beyond weight loss — improved blood sugar control, reduced cardiovascular event risk, reduced food noise and cravings, sometimes improvements in fatty liver disease, and emerging research suggests benefits for addiction, inflammation, and longevity. The weight loss is the most visible outcome, but it's not the only one.
